The Highwayman
This week we have been studieing The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes and think it is a very very good poem. I made my own poem about The Highwayman finding out Bess is dead and quite like it.
September, 1885
September, 1885
Oh my heart, as cold as ice.
My heart as dull as death.
Oh, Bess, Oh Bess.
The landlord's daughter.
Who never doubted me twice.
Her love heart plait
Her perfumed breath
Oh, Bess, Oh, Bess.
I have heard about the gun.
And how when you fired, that was that.
So struck by grief I am.
I promise to see you again.
In heaven or hell,
I will see you.
I know I can.
So I end this story on a love note
Bess.
I will see you again, by the gun of my hand,
So swears
The Highwayman!
